The Oscar Wilde Society has an exciting and diverse programme of events all year round. We organise lectures, readings, and discussions about Wilde and his works, and visits to places associated with him. We also aim to highlight other events of interest which are organised by other entities.

Oscar Wilde Society Summer Luncheon
August 12, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
£90“Now and then it is a joy to have one’s table red with wine and roses.”
Join us in Oscar’s honour for our annual summer lunch in the usual convivial environs of his alma mater, Magdalen College, Oxford OX1 4AU.
12:30 p.m. for Pimm’s (or pressé) in The Chaplain’s Quad followed by a three course lunch with wine at 13:00 in the Terry Newport Room and Ante Room.
Lunch will be followed by a talk from our very own Dr Aaron Eames based on his PhD dissertation entitled ‘Writing Wilde’ exploring Wilde biographies of the early twentieth century. Oscar says in ‘The Critic as Artist’ that ‘every great man nowadays has his disciples, and it is always Judas who writes the biography’. Aaron’s talk will introduce us to some of these Judases and their portrayals of Wilde’s life, loves and sexuality.
The price for the reception, three courses and wine is £90 per person. To reserve a ticket, please follow this link:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FL3Z9CJ
