Summer Lunch, Oxford (Members and their guests)
July 20 @ 11:45 am - 5:00 pm| £43
Magdalen College recently told the Society that the date they offered is no longer available due to building works. We have found a delightful Victorian pub nearby – The Cape of Good Hope – Iffley Road, The Plain, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX4 1EA, which has offered us a private dining room.
Cost is £43 per head and includes a three-course lunch, Pimms for the reception and a glass of prosecco for the toast. Other drinks to be purchased from the pub.
Visit the Robert Ross Memorial Collection at University College, guided by the College Librarian Elizabeth Adams before lunch. Lunch will be held in a private room at The Cape of Good Hope, just over Magdalen Bridge. Our after-lunch speaker is Daryl Green, the Librarian from Magdalen College, who will introduce us to the Magdalen College holdings of Oscar Wilde materials and then escort us on a curated tour of Wildean materials in their collection and the Making History: Christian Cole, Alain Locke and Oscar Wilde at Oxford Exhibition.
